Being intentional about the optimum or stress free lifestyle of your aging parent is one way to give them care. If you are one with aging parents, or you intend to move your aging parents into your home, there are ways to create a conducive environment for them in the home.

With this in mind, when you decide to safeguard your home, you are one step away from hazardous accidents and complications for your aging parent.

These options improve the lifestyle of the home:

  1. Install bells: There are different categories of bells to install for your aging parents. These are bells for reminders, video doorbells, smartphone apps with smart bells e.t.c. These bells help to mind forgetfulness and create the chances of help, when needed. All you have to do, set up the bells at home and teach your aging parents how to use them. They are mostly one button press bells, which would be as notifications.
  2. Maximize stick notes: Use stationeries like markers and stick notes and paste them around the house, to leave messages for your aging parent. This would enhance their memory for the aging parent, when they need to be reminded of tasks and activities. Always write with bold markers, and use colors that they cannot miss, while passing them.
  3. Clear the floor: The floor should be minimized from lots of items. There should be an organized structure of where things could be kept. Regular household items should not be found littering on the floor, when there are aging parents living in the house. With less things on the floor, there would be free and easy movement for the elderly at home.

  1. Renovate the bathroom: There should be bars/rails that serve as support for the aging parent. With movement to and fro in the bathroom, the footwears should be safe, not old and not slippery. The bathroom footwears should be changed often after a period of time.
  2.  Provide smart devices: Technology has created mediums that offer assistance with intelligence, there are voice sensors devices, smart watches, indoor cameras, pet feeders, smart pill tools, e.t.c. Choose a smart device to use and create an avenue for optimal care for your aging parents. These smart devices help to reduce the number of activities your aging parent is championed with, most of them work with a simple voice command or the use of smartphone applications. Consider this as an option for your aging parent.
